THE vagaries of the moon have caused a dramatic shift, not only in the daily horoscopes, but in the staging of this year’s Yarra Glen Art Show.
The show, traditionally held over the Easter weekend has been brought forward and will be held over the Labour Day long weekend – 11 to 14 March.
With Easter being so much later this year, organisers wanted to keep the advantage of what they are hopeful will be pleasant early autumn weather.
As the show celebrates its 10th anniversary it also returns to John and Pru Van de Linde’s award-winning Alowyn Gardens.
The show was staged at Alowyn last year and was a great success.
“The marriage of John’s garden which is so artistic, and the art show, just comes together so well,” said co-ordinator Morgan Calder.
There is no doubt it has the blessing of the artists and visitors who enjoyed the magical setting and the quality and range of the exhibition at Alowyn in 2010.
Adding another dimension to the show this year is the introduction of a marketplace where artisans from around the Yarra Valley will come together to showcase their unique wares.
Ms Calder said the show provided an opportunity for artists from a wide variety of backgrounds, and with as many varying styles and media, to show and sell their work and offered the public an opportunity to purchase unique artworks, including unframed works and cards, at very affordable prices.
The 2011 Yarra Glen Art Show will be held at Alowyn Gardens, 1210 Melba Highway, Yarra Glen, from 11 to 14 March.
Alowyn Gardens is also open on weekends and public holidays from September through to May.
