THE Yarra Valley Singers will return to Wandin for their winter concert.
After the standing ovation they received performing Messiah last Christmas, the singers will perform again at the Wandin North Public Hall on Sunday 19 June.
The choir’s musical director, Jo Blankfield, has planned a diverse program of songs ranging from unaccompanied African songs and chants, to musical comedy, “beautiful” English love and folk songs, Mozart’s Luci Care and everything in between.
The second half of the program will include a bracket of songs by the choir’s small group, Allegro, directed and accompanied by Judi Withers.
There will also be a number of soloists including Jo Blankfield (soprano), Edwin Chow (bassoon), Anthea Bibby (soprano), Judi Withers (piano) and Alan Strachan (If I were a rich man).
On a whimsical note, Doug Fudge will delight with a song written in response to a very personal remark made to him at a family gathering.
The choir members look forward to an entertaining afternoon with this diverse program, showcasing what they love and do best, followed by a generous afternoon tea.
The Yarra Valley Singers will perform at 2.30pm on Sunday 19 June at the Wandin North Public Hall, corner Clegg Road and Warburton Highway.
Donations of $15 at the door and for further details contact Jeanette on 9844 2548.
