HEALESVILLE’S Indian restaurant Paramparaa, named after the Sanskrit for ‘tradition’, offers delicious food prepared with fresh ingredients and aromatic Indian spices to surely tantalise those taste buds.
Oven-fresh Indian breads, rich curries, tandoori (baked in clay ovens) vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes that are juicy, tender and infused with the right mix of spices – Paramparaa serves it all.
For those who haven’t had the pleasure of being hosted by a family in India or sampling its food in its cities, here’s the chance to catch up on the country’s cuisine.
India is known as a land rich in culture and tradition. The sheer variety of its cuisines bears testimony to this diversity.
Those who like spice can try north-Indian fare, or try a flavourful Mughlai cuisine that melts in the mouth.
Meals at Paramparaa can be perfectly complemented by boutique wines sourced from local wineries. What’s more, most of the items on the menu are gluten-free.
Karthik Karanam, owner and head chef of Paramparaa, aspires to provide the choicest of this cuisine in a contemporary setting.
He is driven by a passion for cooking authentic Indian food prepared with fresh ingredients.
Karthik honed his skills at a five-star hotel in India and has worked at a prestigious Indian restaurant in Tecoma.
Having recognised his talent while working at a small restaurant, he completed his formal training in Australia.
He then fine tuned his skills at some of Hyderabad’s most well known kitchens before returning to Australia in 2007.
A keen eagerness to learn helped him rise and today he’s happy to serve at a restaurant that’s his own.
Paramparaa, under its new management, will offer discerning diners fine food and excellent service, so get set for a fantastic experience.
The fully-licensed restaurant (BYO wine only) is open for dinner seven nights a week from 5pm to 10.30pm, and for lunch on the weekend between 11.30am and 2.30pm.
