THE COALITION Government launched its $1 billion Regional Growth Fund last week.
The eight-year funding program includes money for extending natural gas to Warburton.
Residents, the Yarra Ranges Council and action groups including the Warburton Advancement League have been campaigning for more than 10 years to have accessible gas in the town.
The project could take between 12 and 18 months.
