SHOP owners have had enough after a number of stores in Seville were vandalised over the first weekend of July.
They have put down what they call “regular” vandalism attacks to “bored kids who have nothing better to do”.
Shops in the main street were left with broken windows, doors and ornaments with the vandalism occurring during the night on Saturday 2 July.
Shop owners were made aware the next day and began the task of cleaning up.
Seville op-shop volunteer Shirley Holland said a rock had been thrown through the store window, showering sale items with glass.
“The glass had shattered inwardly and tiny glass splinters went all over the room,” she said. “We had to throw a lot of items out.” Mrs Holland also said red roadwork cones had been thrown on top of the pharmacy.
Leanne Brook from Seville Butcher said the vandals had smashed her two metre-high terracotta pots that sat outside the store. Michael Aumann said the roller door on his fruit shop had been bent in.
“They’d tried to break in, it hasn’t happened for a while,” he said.
Police were disturbed to hear the vandalism wasn’t reported, and have asked anyone with information to call Lilydale police on 9739 2300.
