A good time for families

AN OP shop fashion parade and University of the Third Age singers were the highlights of the second annual Family Services Expo in Yarra Junction during the school holidays.
Family Centre spokeswoman Brenda Amman said the one-day event was a huge success attracting some 250 visitors.
“We had a beautiful sunny day and there was a great community atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor activities,” she said.
The free Living the Good Life expo, held on 15 July, included activities, entertainment and information for the community.
While the fashion parade and U3A singers drew the largest crowds, the day also featured a youth zone, story time, art and craft activities and Harold the Giraffe. Other highlights included veggie gardening, cooking demonstrations, face painting, giveaways, brain gym workshops, free healthy lunches and a CFA fire truck.
Brenda said the family services expo was an annual event that takes place on the last Friday of the winter school holidays.
“We are thrilled the expo was such a success and look forward to next year’s event,” she said.
