THE Warburton Seventh Day Adventist Church was born with the arrival of the Signs workers.
The first church building was erected on Signs Hill soon after the establishment of the Signs Publishing Company. As the community grew so did the need for a new church. The new brick church was dedicated in 1944. The 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s were boom times with a church that was almost bursting at the seams, several choirs, singing groups and a brass band.
A vibrant youth scene was a source of pride in the community. While the days of large attendances and visionary projects have passed, the church still has a committed, caring congregation who find joy in worship.
Warburton Christian School
Adventist education in Warburton has come a long way from its humble beginnings in a tent in 1906.
It was when education was based on four principals — the three Rs and discipline. While the school concentrated on the elementary grades for a time, the demand grew for high-school training to be added.
In 1972, students moved from the old school which had served the community for more than four decades into new premises on the banks of the Yarra River.
In 1998, the school changed its name from Warburton Adventist School to Warburton Christian School, inviting non-Adventist families to join in Christian education in Warburton.
