Published on 17 June by All Kind Gas And Plumbing, the study ranked the water utilities on five key factors, which were:

Average annual residential water supplied, typical annual bill, average duration of unplanned interruption, water main breaks, bursts and leaks per 100 kilometres and sewer main breaks and chokes per 100 kilometres.

Goulburn Valley Water have scored first overall, which supplies to the New South Wales border, with them having the cheapest yearly prices, and lowest breaks, bursts and leaks per 100 kilometres.

Lower Murray water ranks third overall, with its covered cities of Mildura, Swan Hill, Robinvale and Red Cliffs getting the highest residential water supply, with 455 kilolitres per year.
