Coodabeen will be back on music track

By Seth Hynes
MUSICIAN Greg Champion launched the 2011 Music at the Healesville Track in Healesville on Friday 16 September.
The singer/songwriter of Coodabeen Champions fame performed at the inaugural festival last year and will be back on stage again in November. Performing at the launch at the Grind ‘n’ Groove in Healesville, he said the festival was a festival for music lovers, but particularly those who love folk, country and roots music.
Mr Champion said the festival, which starts at midday, would have acoustic acts during the day, but will build up to a rousing rock finish around 8pm.
Chris Young, vice-chairman at the Healesville Amateur Race Club and the music festival co-ordinator, said the festival is designed to promote the Yarra Valley’s musical culture and bring “affordable music to the community”.
Mr Young and the organisers had worked on offering a balance of local musicians with musicians from across Australia. They include Joe Camilleri and the Black Sorrows, John Schumann and the Vagabond Crew, Monique Brumby, Ewan Cloonan and Rebecca Barnard.
Gathering musicians from across the country for a day of fun and enjoyment, the 2011 Music at the Healesville Track event is a community music festival that will take place at the Healesville racecourse on Sunday 20 November.
Mr Champion called the racecourse a “beautiful location” and said it was an ideal place for watching music.
“Go out and spread the message about how beautiful Healesville is for music,” he urged the audience at the launch.
The Music at the Healesville Track music festival is run by the Healesville Amateur Racing Club and sponsored by several local businesses.
Tickets can be purchased from the Yarra Junction Post Office and the Grind n’ Groove, the Gilded Lily and the Sanctuary Lotto in Healesville, or from www.musicatthehealesvilletrck.com.au.
