HEALESVILLE group The Hills Villains will release their debut, self-titled CD at The Grind ‘n’ Groove in Healesville on Friday, 14 October.
The trio will be joined by a couple of guest musicians on the night as well as a support slot from another popular act “Louie and the Pride”.
Individually, the members of The Hills Villains have played festivals from Tamworth to Glastonbury and have influences ranging from Redgum to the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Lead singer, guitarist and front man Ewan Cloonan is essentially a storyteller who writes about what he hears and sees. Joined by Tom Kelly (TK and Rose, The Hannafords) on bass guitar and Steve Cubela on drums, the trio take the bones of Ewan’s songs and give them musical depth and colour.
Having just finished recording their debut album with the technical assistance of Hugh McDonald, (ex-Redgum) The Hills Villains are embarking on a journey to find a long-lost genre somewhere between folk and funk.
