A TEENAGER lands an acting role in a play directed by Orson Welles, in the UK film Me and Orson Welles.
The 2008 drama was based on real events in 1937, when a teenager, played by Zac Effron, lands a role in the Mercury Theatre’s stage production of Julius Caesar directed by a young Orson Welles.
Me and Orson Welles will be the ninth film shown as part of the Yarra Valley Film Society’s 12-month program.
Richard Linklater’s film is a wonderful coming of age story in the world of the theatre that has, as its centerpiece, a great performance by McKay who brings Welles to vibrant life.
The Upper Yarra Arts Centre will show Me and Orson Welles at 7.30pm on Tuesday 11 October. Guests can see the film for a one-off price (11 films for $60) or join the society to be included in discussion sessions after the films.
