ANOTHER Marysville institution is back.
MOPS, the Marysville Opportunity Shop re-opened with a morning tea for volunteers and supporters on Thursday 13 October.
President Lisa Nolte paid tribute the committee, which has worked to get the shop up and running, and said they have around 40 volunteers, a reflection of the depth of feeling people have for the shop.
“It has been a long time and a rush in the last three months because it only really became possible in the last three or four months with the help of many people and organisations to make it happen,” she said, reading a long list of contributors.
Ms Nolte paid tribute to the work and passion of Marysville minister Andrew Schreuder who was instrumental in starting MOPS some years ago.
“Thank you also to everyone who stored stuff for us, in bedrooms, sheds and shipping containers, and the people who have done the washing, I take my hat off to you,” Ms Nolte said.
The shop raises funds for the Marysville and Buxton primary and pre-schools, the three church parishes and the guides.
