MONBULK’S Under 17s had a great win on Saturday morning, beating Mountain Gate to remain undefeated for the year.
All other junior and senior teams were washed out on Saturday. Friday night saw the Under 11s and Under 12s play half a game before also being washed out.
The sun was back out on Sunday for the fourth annual Monbulk Fun Run, which was hosted by the Monbulk Cricket Club and started and finished at the Monbulk sports ground.
A Twenty20 cricket match between the Monbulk Football Club and the Monbulk Cricket Club followed.
The cricketers won in an entertaining match, although many wickets fell for both sides.
The highlight for the weekend was definitely the Monbulk Fun Run, in which about 400 people ran or walked the 4km or 8km track around Monbulk’s streets.
About $7000 was raised for Belgrave South boy Jack Mullan and his family.
The six-year-old suffering a brain hemorrhage in utero and has fought battles against cerebral palsy, epilepsy and cortical blindness since birth.
The funds raised will help Jack and his family in the lead up to his first day at primary school next year.

Round five starts next weekend with Monbulk’s first team taking on Knoxfield away and the seconds playing Knoxfield at home.
