ONE man is dead and another was left with life threatening injuries after two major collisions on Upper Yarra roads.
The collisions took place within an hour and a half of each other on the morning of Thursday, 6 April in Seville and Woori Yallock. The first incident involved a single car collision on Beenak Road, Seville, about 6.15am.
“A 70-year-old Wandin man was negotiating a right hand bend when he lost control of the vehicle and collided sideways with a tree,” a police media spokeswoman said.
“The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was killed at the scene.” The spokeswoman said the man’s name had not been released.
The second collision occurred about 7.45am at the intersection of the Warburton Highway and the Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road, in Woori Yallock.
The 19-year-old Wesburn P plate driver of one of the cars was air lifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with severe injuries. His condition was later downgraded to serious, but stable. The driver of the other vehicle, a Yarra Junction man in his 50s, was uninjured.
A Yarra Ranges Traffic Management Unit (TMU) spokesman said police were continuing investigations into the collision.
