THE Yarra Valley Youth Theatre Group’s final production for the year, Powerplay, will take to the stage at Warburton next month.
Presented by YAVA, the Upper Yarra arm of the Yarra Valley Youth Theatre Group, Powerplay features two performances that deal with the effect power has on groups and individuals.
Rabbit, the first performance, is set 10 years after the bomb was dropped.
The plot involves children of indeterminate age and gender who have been 10 years without parents, and 10 years without civilisation.
They create a society to survive and, as in all societies, there are leaders and followers, decisions and judgements and, inevitably, power struggles.
The next play, Powerpoints, is a collaborative experimental piece in which young people were asked to explore the idea of power and its effect.
The various ideas were discussed to create short statements.
Powerplay is at the Upper Yarra Arts Centre on Friday, 8 December at 7.30pm and on Saturday, 9 December at 2pm and 7:30pm.
Tickets are $12, $8 concession or $25 for a family of two adults and two children. Phone 5966 5160 to book.
The YVYTG is sponsored by the Shire of Yarra Ranges and the Warburton Community Bank Branch.
