TATTY floors can be bad news for proud homeowners, so why not give them the coverage they deserve?
Upper Yarra Carpets in Yarra Junction sells only leading brands, most of them manufactured in Australia.
The store specialises in carpets, vinyl and floating floors and has three expert fitters to install them if customers choose not to take the DIY route.
The family owned business does most of its business in the Yarra Valley region where it has been operating for 25 years.
Some present customers have a relationship with Upper Yarra Carpets dating back to 1981 with most business coming from word-of-mouth recommendations on the range and the assistance of the professional, local staff.
Single rooms and whole households can be fitted out in either domestic settings or commercial properties such as schools and businesses.
Owner Wally Bickerton, who has been in the industry for 45 years, says customers often choose spring to attend to their carpet wishes.
“People are happier to have furniture outside in the finer weather and many customers like to beat the Christmas rush,” he said.
“Our rugs are very popular now because a lot of people have polished floorboards. We have a great selection and they would make an ideal Christmas gift.”
Mr Bickerton said a good carpet could give a room a surprising and much-needed lift.
“A carpet adds warmth and comfort and is a general rejuvenation to the look and feel of a house,” he said.
“People with tired carpets are often amazed by how much dust and dirt can gather over the years, so a carpet can also be part of a spring clean.”
But Upper Yarra Carpets is not just about what happens at ground level. It also offers a range of blinds and awnings for practical and aesthetic purposes.
