YARRA Glen and district residents are being invited to attend a Community Celebration and Township Group election day at the end of this month.
The community day is the culmination of the Yarra Glen and District Values and Visions project, which has been conducted over the past two years.
The Values and Visions project has involved intensive consultation with residents and a final report of the initiative’s findings will be launched at the community celebration on 30 April.
The report will be launched by Shire of Yarra Ranges councillor Jeanette McRae during the community celebration, to be held in at the Yarra Glen Memorial Hall and McKenzie Reserve from 11.30am to 2.30pm.
Values and Visions project coordinator, Hannah Sky, said it was important Yarra Glen and district residents are involved in the election process.
“We are urging community members to make the most of the opportunity to have their say on who represents us for the next 12 months,” she said.
Ms Sky said nominations for the nine-member township group were open to Yarra Glen and district residents from all walks of life.
“While the votes are being counted, there will be good food, wine and music to entertain the crowd and thank the community for their participation in the overall process,” she said.
One of the live music acts on the day will be husband and wife team, Angie and Greg Macmillan, who will perform a mix of jazz and blues with their five-piece band, Angie’la and the Alfresco Fellas.
Ms Sky said nominations for the township group should be addressed to the Yarra Glen Values and Visions Project, and sent or delivered to the Yarra Glen post office by close of business on Thursday, 27 April. See nomination form on page 2.
