Works in pipeline

YARRA Ranges residents will benefit from an improved and more reliable water supply, as Yarra Valley Water nears completion of replacing 3133 metres of water pipes.
The pipes are being laid in Lilydale, Mooroolbark, Kilsyth, Healesville, Wandin and Warburton.
The work has been undertaken over the past 12 months as part of a program to replace more than 56,000 metres of pipes across its entire service area – the equivalent to one quarter of the length of the Yarra River.
Pipe renewals are part of Yarra Valley Water’s ongoing program to reduce water supply interruptions and ensure that the water-supply system continues to meet expectations.
“Maintaining and investing in Yarra Valley Water’s water and sewerage systems is the best way to continually improve our service levels today and into the future,” Yarra Valley Water managing director Tony Kelly said.
“Yarra Valley Water’s infrastructure spending is targeted at projects that benefit our customers and the environment.
“This investment in Yarra Ranges water mains will reduce the incidence of burst water pipes that impact customers and will also reduce leaks.”
Mr Kelly said that priority was given to those water mains that were nearing the end of their operational life or had a history of bursts.
