THERE were celebrations in the Team Clark camp on Saturday after Betty’s Portrait won its first greyhound race.
Healesville trainer Matthew Clark and sons Bradley and Jason were happy with the two-and-a-half year old’s run in race 7. Betty came home in 19.09 ahead of Burra Belle and La Rubiette.
“We were thrilled. She’s placed second a few times in the last few weeks and she came from behind to win this one,” Matthew said.
The win was also popular with local enthusiasts.
Matthew, one of only two local trainers, was a groundsman at the Healesville track for a time and was elected to the committee of the Healesville Club at its annual general meeting on Sunday.
