Rain hampers play in Yarra Valley competition

ROUND 10 of the YVCA season was played under a drizzle and overcast skies as many matches went ahead while others were either unable to start or were drastically affected by the weather during the day.
In the D. J. Strachan Shield, Yarra Junction were hosting Woori Yallock and no play was possible in this match
At the Yarra Valley Grammar Oval, Yarra Panthers hosted Mount Evelyn, who were dismissed for 114 with Kane Jones scoring 47.
The Panthers’ best bowling came from Dean Capobianco with 4 for 14 and Ross Fernando 3 for 10.
In reply, Yarra Panthers reached 157 with Faz Spackman scoring 41 and I. Llewelleyn taking 5/32 for Mount Evelyn.
At Coldstream, the home side were bowled out for just 63 runs with John Pignataro on 18 offering some resistance to the Warburton-Millgrove attack. Michael Walker 4/18 was the best bowler.
In reply, Warburton-Millgrove reached 9 for 135cc at the end of their innings with Walker also chipping in to make 33. He was assisted by Tim McKail 30.
Coldstream’s bowlers Walliker 3/22 and Lambert 3/54 toiled well.
No scores were received from the Silvan versus Wandin match but it is understood Wandin won a rain-shortened 30-overs match.
The Healesville versus Seville match was scheduled for the Hume and Hovell Oval on Turf on Sunday but at the time of going to press seemed likely to be hit by rain.
In the R. A. Finger Trophy, Seville took on a strong Healesvillle side at Seville and batting first reached 9/136cc (Jason Goss 40, Ben Mackie 4/11).
After the tea adjournment, Healesville took to the crease and was travelling well for most of the innings but eventually fell short when they were dismissed for 117.
Ben Mackie 28, Scott Troyahn and Paul Dicello led the attack with 3 for 32 and 3 for 39 respectively.
At Warburton, the home side Warburton-Millgrove batted first and reached 7 for 139cc.
Geoff Sharp 38, Alan Ireland 28 not out with R Gibson taking 3/25 Gruyere Districts reached 0/34 when the match was washed out.
Launching Place United, led by Cam Hoare 44, Heath Atkinson 36, Harry Wadsworth 32, scored 167. A. Bailey took 2/24.
Mt Evelyn, were then dismissed for 109, Wadsworth 4/32 and Glen Abrol 4/47 a good win for the United team.
Yarra Junction scored 9/156cc (Goeff Fall 66, Adam Whitworth 3/18 and Matt Worrley 2/11) versus Woori Yallock, who were 2 for 72 when rain washed out play.
No scores were received for the Wandin v Hoddles Creek match.
