HEALTHY eating is just one of many themes of Autumnfest, a celebration of the Healesville Organic Market’s second birthday and the autumn equinox which will take place at the Healesville Railway Station on Saturday, 18 March.
The Yarra Valley Permaculture Group, Slow Food Yarra Valley and Yarra Valley Tourist Railway Society have joined forces to present a program of food, lifestyle features, entertainment and exotic and rare breeds of farm animals.
The event starts with a delicious organic breakfast, courtesy of the Mountain Districts Permaculture Group, from 8.30am.
Regular growers will conduct the organic market which has become a regular part of the weekend for many people.
The event will include trolley rides and local group Singing for Your Soul’s Sake. A spit roasted pork lunch will be prepared by Slow Food Yarra Valley.
There will be displays and demonstrations including photos, spinning and weaving, heritage apples, martial arts, foot massage and more.
Autumnfest, from 8.30am to 3pm, is a perfect opportunity to sample some glorious local organic produce as well as learning more about sustainable ways of producing and enjoying food. Organic breakfasts prepared by Slow Food Yarra Valley using ingredients available at the market will be a feature of the Healesville organic market each Saturday from 25 March.
