Bringing arts to fore

By Kath Gannaway
THE Mt Evelyn and Yarra Valley Arts Society will hold its annual display and sale of work in Healesville over the Queen’s Birthday weekend.
The society has become an institution for artists and artisans from around the Yarra Valley and the Dandenong Ranges since it was formed in 1968 and its annual display is a popular event on the arts calendar.
The society’s artists present a diverse range of works including landscape, still-life, portrait, wildlife and floral work, in a variety of media.
This year, patchwork will also be included in the show.
For members, the exhibition presents an opportunity to exhibit and sell their work, and for visitors there is always the chance of snapping up a quality, original piece of artwork for a very reasonable price.
The Mt Evelyn and Yarra Valley Arts Society Exhibition of Arts will be staged this year at the Darron Honey Centre (behind the Uniting Church) on Maroondah Highway, Healesville, on 10, 11 and 12 June.
