Wine maker receives industry accolades

By Dion Teasdale
YARRA Valley wine maker Peter Fergusson has been recognised internationally for his contribution to tourism and hospitality.
Mr Fergusson, the owner and wine maker of Fergusson Winery in Yarra Glen, received the accolade from the Victorian Concierge fraternity, Les Clefs d’Or.
Les Clefs d’Or originates from France and was established in 1929 to bring together concierges and head porters to work together to provide premier service and assistance to their guests.
Mr Fergusson is the first wine maker in Australia to be bestowed with this honour and joins an international delegation of more than 6500 members.
“Peter has been a prominent industry pioneer to further tourism and wine making in the Yarra Valley for more than 30 years,” executive director of Destination Yarra Valley Dandenong Ranges Andrea Roberts said.
“He is truly an asset to the region and tourism as a whole and this honour is also testament to his support and sponsorship of the society of Les Clefs d’Or.”
This recent accolade is just another of many honours already bestowed upon Mr Fergusson.
He received a Queen’s birthday honour in 2003 and was awarded a Tourism Victoria Award for his contribution to wine making and developing tourism within the Yarra Valley region.
