SHIRE of Yarra Ranges Ryrie Ward councillor Jeanette McRae has called on young people with business and project ideas to come forward.
Cr McRae said she was keen to establish a Youth Enterprise project involving young people from Healesville, Coldstream, Yarra Glen and surrounding areas.
She said the project, which could be based in Healesville, would offer young people support to develop business ideas and could also incorporate job training initiatives.
“I’m eager to hear from young people who have ideas for their own businesses and who are looking for somewhere they can set up and get the support they need,” she said.
“The idea behind setting up a Youth Enterprise project would be to nurture young people, mentor their business ideas and offer them practical support.”
Cr McRae said she was keen to see a project set up in Ryrie Ward that was similar to the Youth Enterprise project currently being developed in Warburton.
The Warburton Youth Enterprise project, which has been overseen by the shire and partly funded by the Federal Government, is expected to provide training and employment opportunities for local youth.
Cr McRae urged people interested in a Youth Enterprise project to contact her on 5962 3847 or via email j.mcrae@yarraranges.vic.gov.au.
