Healesville Cricket Club
U16B: Healesville v Yarra Junction: Yarra Junction won the toss and put Healesville into bat who were all out for 48. Yarra Junction were 3 for 63 after close of play on day 1. Best: Healesville – B. Bateman. Yarra Junction – J. Oakley, T. Dicker.
U14A: Healesville v Coldstream: Healesville won the toss and batted on a cold windy day. Nathaniel Hrabe top scored with 29, assisted by Tim Swobode on 25. Rain stopped play for 30 minutes and Healesville finished on a good score of 121. Best: N. Hrabe, T. Swoboda.
U14B: Healesville v Mt Evelyn: Healesville won the toss and batted. Alex Turner batted for most of the innings for 18 not out and backed up well by Scott Docherty with 17. Healesville has Mt Evelyn 1/11 at the end of first day’s play. Best: A. Turner, L. Rowe, S. Docherty.
U12A: Healesville Red v Mt Evelyn: Mt Evelyn faced 36 overs on an overcast day. Good overall bowling and fielding effort by the Healesville boys.
Healesville White v Warburton-Millgrove: Healesville lost the toss and were sent in to bat. Most batsmen batted well in very trying conditions. B. Clarke hit three 4s. J. and S. Higgs, C. Montgomery, Jay Tacey all made runs. A special mention to B. Columbo who had a steady innings making three runs. Best: B. Clarke, C. Montgomery, S. Higgs.
U10: Healesville v Mt Evelyn: Healesville won the toss and chose to bat. With 13 players, all batsmen had a good go with Nathan Vernon top scoring on 4. With a constant drizzle, there were a lot of no balls. When Healesville bowled, the showers got heavier. Lachlan McLean bowled a batsman and the next over saw him take a diving catch with the fingertips. Unfortunately, Healesville bowled too many no balls, but it was still an enjoyable game. Best: L. McLean, C. Argentino.
Warburton Millgrove Cricket Club
Strachan Shield: Batting first, Warburton really struggled in the first 20 overs against tight bowling from Woori Yallock. A. Humphrey 35 and D. Ward 34 put on a valuable partnership to help Warburton finish on 9/129. B. Summers scored 34. D. Ryan 5/36 and N Ward 4/22 were the destroyers. In reply, Woori batted steadily to reach 7/138. T. Diggins 46, J. Smith 26 and A. Sharp 35 were Woori’s best. L. Darwall 2/29 and C. Darwall 2/23 were Warburton’s best bowlers.
Strachan Shield Reserve: Woori Yallock batted first and reached 8/153 with M. Dwyer 46, R. Smith 35 and B. Long 22 the top scorers. A. Ireland took 2/34. In reply Warburton could only reach 7/122 with B. Winzer 38 the best. J. Ferguson 2/17 and M. White 2/30 were Woori’s best bowlers.
Strachan Shield 3: Woori Yallock batted first and D. Worlley 69 batted superbly and was well supported by T. Worlley 30 not out. K. Hall bowled well taking 3/39, as did R. Walker 2/35. After a slow start, Warburton started to get some partnerships together with K. Hall 79 not out leading the way with a brilliant performance. A. Hutton 21 not out also batted well. C. Selby 3/24 bowled well for Woori.
Strachan Shield 4: In Warburton’s first hit out the team amassed 6/258 with first gamers B. Caulfield 117 and C. Thornson 108 batting superbly. G. Laycock 2/24 was Seville’s best. In reply Seville struggled to reach 10/114. M. Archer 4/36 bowled well in his first game for several seasons.
U16: Hoddles Creek batted first. G. Derix batted well to reach 30 and was well supported by A. Tazzyman 22 to finish on 10/95. J. Jones 3/15, T. Taylor 2/10, K. Elbourne 2/17 and A. Calder 2/7 all bowled well. G. Morris performed well keeping and M. Healey fielded brilliantly.
U14: Marysville batted first and reached 10/58. Hilder 14 and Brown 9 were the top scorers. C. Harvey 2/2 and L. Smith 2/3 were Warburton’s best bowlers. In reply, Warburton are 2/32 with A. Woolley 9 not out.
U12: Healesville batted first and finished on 6/104 with B. Clark 14 and C. Montgomery 7 not out. J. Walker 2/17 and A. Hill 1/6 were Warburton’s best bowlers.
Hoddles Creek Cricket Club
Raft: Marysville batted first at Hoddles Creek and made 139 with B. Stewart 52, and A. Marin 25 not out. Brenton Derix and Michael Batten opened for Hoddles and in an awesome display of batting Brenton went on to make 219 not out with support form Michael 30 and Scott Price 20 not out, finishing the day at 1/277.
Raft 2: In a scratch match against Silvan, Hoddles made 194 with Bruce Davis making a fine 92. In reply Silvan made 144. Tom Sword doing a great job as captain for the day.
Raft 3: Hoddles thirds went to Dixons Creek to meet Gruyere who were dismissed for 54. James Mitchell taking 6 wickets, and making 135 in Hoddles’ total of 7/263 with great support from Gary Edmonds 70 not out.
U16: Hoddles Creek had a bat against Warburton and made 95. A. Tazzyman, G. Derix and T. Edmonds all batted well.
U14: Seville had a bat and made 65. On a rain interrupted morning Hoddles Creek did well to contain Seville. Thanks to Seville for helping Hoddles in the field who were short of players this week. The club would love to hear from any under 14 players looking for a game of cricket.
U12: Hoddles Creek v Woori Yallock The creekers had a bat first and made 8/128. Steph Robertson 12 not out, Mickey Smith 14 and Brad Arnold 11 were the main contributors with Daniel Chesney batting well to be still there at the end.
Yarra Junction Cricket Club
Strachan Shield Reserve 4: Junction kept Healesville to 5/108 with M. Oakley again the best bowler with 3/21. Will Reed kept flawlessly. After a shaky start at 3/18 T. Dicker and M. Oakley put on 41. Will Rreed, Jamie Oakley and G. LeBrocq also scored well to take the honours with one over to go – 8/113.
U16: Yarra Junction won the toss and sent Healesville in to bat. J. Oakley took 4/16 off 7 overs and T. Dicker 3/11 off 4 overs helped bowl out Healesville for 48. Junction’s T. Hawkins 10, P. Twigg 19 and J. Oakley not out on 16 helped Yarra Junction to 3 for 63 at the end of day’s play.
U14B: Playing Yarra Glen under 14A’s, Junction lost the toss, were sent in to bat and started poorly at 2/5 till Cam and Kurtis came in and settled for 6 overs. However, with poor batting Junction were all out for 28, top scorers were J. Cross 7, R. Lebrocq 7, best bowler was N. Taylor 3/7. Yarra Glen are 1 for 32, M. Shallcross 1 for 4.
U12A: Yarra Junction won the toss and bowled. In cold and wet conditions the youngsters took a while to fire up, bowling Seville out for 35 runs from 29 overs. T. Gasket – 2 overs, 2 maidens, 4 wickets, N. Taylor 3 overs, 2 maidens, 3 wickets, J. Closter 1 over, 1 maiden, 1 wicket, C. Hambley 3 overs, 1 wicket, 7 runs, T. Nightingale 4 overs, 1 maiden, 1 wicket, E. Buckley 4 overs, 4 maidens. Yarra Junction then batted for 7 overs to see the day’s play out scoring 60 without losing a wicket. E. Buckley 30 runs from 14 deliveries retired. C. Hambley 21 not out, T. Nightingale 7 not out. Catches to Matt Malic four at slip, one each to Nick, Trav and Edward.
