EPA on scent of odour

AUSTRALIAN Native Landscapes has been fined $5506 in the latest move by the Environment Protection Authority to address the ongoing odour problems at its Coldstream compost facility.
The EPA issued the fine last week when the company failed to meet a number of obligations under the existing Pollution Abatement Notice including failing to keep proper records of activities.
The EPA is continuing to investigate the company’s failure to replace covers on the composting material by the 28 September deadline.
EPA acting executive director regional services Wayne Robins said the EPA would continue to actively investigate complaints from the community and conduct additional testing to assess the performance of composting processes.
The EPA was also contributing yesterday (Monday 8 October) to a VCAT directions hearing in support of the Shire of Yarra Ranges planning dispute with ANL.
