WORKING together in partnership with our community brings us closer to achieving the Vision 2020 – Community Plan.
We are committed to sharing how far we have come with you.
The latest edition of Shirewide outlines some of the key actions we have taken, in partnership with the community, toward achieving our community’s vision.
A more comprehensive overview of key actions will soon be available through the 2005 Community Report.
We are part way through a review of Vision 2020 to ensure that the vision and key strategic council documents continue to reflect the values, aspirations, priorities and needs of the Yarra Ranges community.
The review will also inform how council can better engage and work with diverse communities towards achieving the Vision.
Vision 2020 was created by the community for the community with council committed to taking steps towards the expressed ideals.
Themes identified were: The Social Fabric and Quality of Life in the Shire in 2020, Environmental Stewardship, The Built Environment, The Local Economy, A Tourism and Cultural Icon, A Living and Learning Community and A Safe and Accessible Shire.
Although we are nearing the end of the review there is still an opportunity for the community to be involved in telling us their dreams and aspirations for their community, through the remaining public forums and the Vision 2020 survey.
We want as many people as possible to participate in the review exercise.
The strength of Vision 2020 – Community Plan results from the participation of so many people in our community sharing their ideas about the future.
You can participate in the remaining forums at Healesville on Wednesday 7 September (79pm) and Yarra Junction on Sunday 11 September (13pm).
Alternatively fill out the survey. The most recent edition of Shirewide, delivered last week, contained a copy of the survey. The survey is also available online at www.yarraranges.vic.gov.au.
Anyone who fills out the survey will be placed in the draw to win one of several prizes – three midweek Balloon Sunrise Yarra Valley balloon flights including a five star champagne breakfast, a Yarra Valley Pack containing a selection of regional produce and Yarra Valley Wine Pack containing a selection of regional wines.
