THE Yarra Valley Under 12s put in a brilliant effort in the Country Week Carnival last week to get through to the semi final playing for the Keith Mitchell Shield.
The team comprising the best of the best young players from 30 clubs around the Yarra Valley played top class cricket in the lead up to their semi-final clash with Ringwood last Friday.
Up until that match, coach Jason O’Neil said the team out of a possible 60 wickets had taken every wicket but two.
The team was playing against some of the toughest opponents from metropolitan and country associations some of which select players from as many as 150 clubs.
Mr O’Neil said the team had approached the games with the right attitude, a desire to win and gave it their very best.
Brilliant effort
