THE pleasant weather drew a large crowd to the races at the Yarra Glen racecourse on Saturday, with organisers estimating more than 6000 people in attendance.
Up to 3000 of those people were prebooked for Christmas parties and work functions. While it was mainly a corporate crowd, there were plenty of families and kids enjoying the festivities.
The Pacing Cup will be a twilight meeting on 10 December and the next thoroughbred meeting will be on 22 December.
Healesville Amateur Race Day also has a meeting on 10 December making it a good opportunity to catch up with friends and family before the Christmas rush.
The races have a relaxed and friendly environment with picnic spaces, marquees and activities for kids.
Great day at the races
