SUSI Weber has planted an environmental seed in the minds of hundreds of primary school students.
For seven years the Grade 3 teacher has taken her students along to revegetation projects organised by Healesville Environmental Watch Inc (HEWI).
At the Spring planting day Ms Weber was presented with a certificate of appreciation for her contribution to the revegetation of the Don Road Creek and her enthusiasm for encouraging young people to play a role.
Her classes have planted 2000 indigenous plants to restore the creek habitat and enhance the landscaping of the Healesville Common.
Cr Jeanette McRae presented the certificate to Ms Weber.
She congratulated Ms Weber on her personal commitment to the environment and said she had not only brought her own students along but had encouraged other teachers, parents and students to join in.
“I hope this wonderful community co-operation will continue to protect our waterways and provide more habitat areas for our local wildlife,” she said.
HEWI also presented Healesville Primary School with a worm farm to further encourage young green thumbs.
