Kane puts in a Lones effort against Wandin

YARRA Valley Cricket Association began its final home and away round for the season last weekend.
In the D. J. Strachan Shield, top side Wandin hosted last season’s runner-up Mt Evelyn.
Batting first, Wandin completed the day’s play at 8/306 with J. Rowe making 86 and Scott Hasan 68, while Kane Lones took 4/96 for Mt Evelyn.
The match at Warburton between second-placed Warburton-Millgrove and Healesville, which was fighting for a finals berth, was always going to be a battle.
After day one anyone can still win the match with Warburton-Millgrove dismissed for 207, with Ben Hanson making 54 and Luke Darwall 53. The best of the Healesville bowlers were Ben Salter with 3/27 and Brad Chandler with 3/27.
Healesville will resume this weekend at 1/15.
Seville, at home to Coldstream, reached 4/354 with a second-wicket partnership of 241 between Matt Sondergeld (140) and Andrew Kay (114).
Coldstream will need good efforts from Doughty and Cuthbertson to reach this total.
Silvan was all out for 150 at Yarra Junction with Nathan Fall taking 4/17 and James Rogers 3/18.
In reply Yarra Junction ended the day at 2/45.
Woori Yallock had a good day with the willow at home against the Yarra Panthers, reaching 6/317 with Julian Smith making 115, ably assisted by Paul Broussard (79) and Andrew Sharp (49).
The Panthers will begin their chase this Saturday.

Mt Evelyn was all out for 273, with G. Wighton making 69, Ash Bryans 61 and Brad Darvell 51, while with the ball Wandin’s Steve McIntyre took 5/52.
In reply Wandin is 1/37, with Simon Young 23 not out.
Seville travelled to Gruyere and batted first, but did not play well to be all out for 114 as Matt Tilney took 5/31 and R. Gibbon 3/32.
In reply Gruyere Districts was 2/66 with R. Prowse making 27, and faces a full day’s play this week.
Launching Place United was all out for 218 with Wadsworth making 69 and Grindley 48, against Woori Yallock at Wickhams Road. White took 3/51 for Worri Yallock.
Healesville’s Dan Rogers took 8/28 against Warburton-Millgrove, helping dismiss the team for 52.
In reply, Healesville was 4/208 led by Richard Maile with 103 not out.
Yarra Junction was sent back to the pavilion for 174, with T. Hawkins scoring 46, and in reply Hoddles Creek is 2/30.

Playing Hoddles Creek, Yarra Glen declared at 8/397 with Grant Braden scoring 128 and Tom Davey 96, while D. Chesney took 2/19.
Hoddles Creek will resume at 0/11 with 386 more to get in 75 overs this week.
Roger Fernando made 80 as the Yarra Panthers were all out for 155.
With the ball for Kinglake, Ben Styles took 4/31, Ben Munn-Gibbs 3/4. Their team will resume on 1/18.
Powelltown was all out 107 with Chris Neale making 20, as Coldstream’s Falconer had a good day with the ball taking 7/49.
After taking 2/23, James Pegg made 27 with the bat, but Coldstream was out for 71 after White decided he could better Falconer’s performance and took 7/32, assisted by Neale with 2/30.
