WINE lovers and would-be wine buffs will be pleased to know that the latest Yarra Valley Wine Master Class program has been released.
The program, now in its third year, is held every second Sunday of the month at Chateau Yering, next to Yering Station winery.
The Master Classes, held on the same day as the Yarra Valley Regional Farmer’s Market, offer locals and visitors the chance to experience the regions wines at close range.
Participants get to meet the region’s winemakers in person and learn first hand wine industry knowledge, the secrets behind the making of local wines and keep up with wine making trends.
On Sunday, 19 November the class will focus on new emerging wine styles and the return of old favourites, and on 20 January the program will host a class looking at the region’s Chardonnays.
This year, for the first time, the Master Class program is also being staged in Melbourne.
Each Yarra Valley wine event will be repeated at The Winebank at Guardian Events Centre in Hawthorn at 5.30pm on the Thursday after the Chateau Yering event.
Organiser Anna Aldridge said the Master Class events were an excellent way for wine novices as well as experienced wine enthusiasts to learn more about the Yarra Valley and its wines.
“The Yarra Valley is believed to be the only Australian wine region conducting regular Master Classes hosted by winemakers – and the response has been fantastic,” she said.
“Every class has been booked out and guests appreciated the relaxed atmosphere and chance to interact with wine makers.”
Each master class includes a sit down tasting of about 10 wines, tuition by three winemakers, notes, nibbles and coffee after the class.
The cost is $44 per person and if two or more classes are booked at the same time, guests receive a free bottle of Yarra Valley wine.
