Police follow up leads over sex assault claim

POLICE are following up information that a man they wish to speak with about a sex assault in Cowes may live in the Warburton or Launching Place areas.
Detectives from the Sex Crimes Squad are investigating the sexual assault of a 21-year-old man at Cowes on Monday 31 December.
Investigators believe the victim left the Isle of Wight Hotel with another man who drove him to a car parking area at the western end of Church Street, Cowes, and allegedly sexually assaulted him.
Investigators are looking for a man described as Caucasian, slim to medium build, with blue eyes and aged in his late 30s to 40s with a number two cut shaved grey hair and unshaven.
He may have been driving an EP Ford station wagon at the time of the assault.
Investigators are following up a number of leads, including the possibility the suspect lives in the Warburton or Launching Place areas.
There were a number of people socialising at the hotel on the night and police have released footage of one man they believe could assist with their investigation.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or to visit www.crimestoppers.com.au.
