NEW principals have been appointed at Milwarra and Launching Place Primary Schools to usher in the new school year.
Both are local residents with extensive teaching experience.
Rodney Barnard has been at Milwarra Primary since the beginning of the last term of 2006.
Transferring from Gruyere Primary School after six years of service, Mr Barnard said he was looking forward to the new challenges that lay ahead at Milwarra.
With 155 students spread out over two campuses, Milwarra is the only joint campus primary school in the eastern suburbs.
Mr Barnard has lived in Warburton for 19 years and has been married for 25 years. He has seven children, with one still left in primary school.
Steve Shaw comes from Tecoma Primary School where he spent most of this year as acting principal, and the previous two years as assistant principal.
Having taught in schools for the last 17 years, Mr Shaw is pleased to take up his first principal post at Launching Place Primary School.
“I am looking forward to getting to know the friendly and dedicated staff and meeting all the wonderful students and being part of their success in the future.”
Mr Shaw’s wife is also a teacher and they have two school aged daughters.
