Trail of good food

By Dion Teasdale
YARRA Valley food and wine producers will feature in an upcoming episode of a new television cooking series.
The six-part series, The Food Trail, began screening on Channel Seven last month and showcases food producers from across Victoria.
For the show, self-taught chef and television personality Paul Mercurio, of Dancing with the Stars fame, travelled through Victoria’s premiere food and wine regions, gathering produce and visiting restaurants.
Food producers included in the Yarra Valley episode are Kennedy and Wilson Chocolatiers, Didier Cadinot and Christine Fryer from Gruyere, the Colaneri family from Healesville’s Yarra Valley Pasta, and the Molloy family from Kinglake Raspberries.
Yering Station and Chateau Yering are the two wineries featured in the program which is scheduled to screen on Channel Seven at 5.30pm on Saturday, 25 March.
Yarra Valley Pasta’s Lisa Colaneri said the family was excited and honoured to be part of the program.
“Being included in The Food Trail is confirmation of what we’ve achieved over a long period of time,” she said.
“It’s fabulous to be recognised as one of the founding food producers in the Yarra Valley.”
The series was sponsored by the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) to celebrate the abundance, diversity and high quality of Victoria’s foods and showcase it to the whole state.
Visit the special website at www.dpi.vic.gov.au.
Department of Primary Industries corporate affairs spokeswoman, Melanie Curtis said: “People following the trail can click on the DPI site to get the recipes cooked by Paul Mercurio and guest chefs from around the trail using local produce.”
