FORMER Liberal MP James (Jim) Plowman has died at the age of 73.
Mr Plowman was member for Evelyn from 1973 to 1982 and again from 1985 to 1999 when he retired from Parliament.
He was known fondly and respectfully by both sides of the political divide as “Gentleman Jim”.
Mr Plowman held two ministerial portfolios during his career and was Speaker for two terms, from 1979 to 1982 and again from 1996 until his retirement.
Mr Plowman is survived by his wife, Prue and their four children and a granddaughter.
A celebration of Mr Plowman’s life will be held at his home, Erimbali in Break-o-Day Road at Glenburn, on Thursday, 10 May at 11.30am.
