Recollections of footy star

FORMER legendary Australian Rules footballer Syd Jackson will share stories about growing up and life as a footballer at the William Barak Memorial Lecture on Thursday, 17 August. The lecture, part of the Town and Gown series, will be held at Swinburne University, Melba Avenue, Lilydale, at 7.30pm.
The lecture is free, however, bookings are essential.
Call Adam Frogley, manager Indigenous Programs Unit at Swinburne University on 9215 7208 or email afrogley@groupwise.swin.edu.au by Monday, 14 August to reserve your place.

Yarra Ranges mayor Monika Keane said it was a wonderful opportunity to hear stories from a legend of the game.
“Whether you have an interest in football or not it will be wonderful to hear Uncle Syd’s recollections on growing up in Western Australia and his highly successful football career,” she said.
The memorial lecture is a tribute to the late William Barak who died away at the Coranderrk Aboriginal Station in 1903.
A renowned artist, Barak spent much of his life as an ambassador and a political advocate for his people.
