YARRA Valley’s Banyan Gallery has moved from the Healesville Wine Centre.
The gallery, which supports and promotes local and regional artists, is now in the Bodhi Tree Cafe on Maroondah Highway, Healesville.
The first of a regular series of new exhibitions, featuring the work of Warburton artist Dakini Maddock, opened at the Bodhi Tree on Thursday, 11 August.
“Dakini describes this collection of works as an exploration of different notions of mythology and how it relates to our personal identity,” Banyan Gallery curator Liz Cadzow said.
“The exhibition explores how ancient cultures looked to the land and their environment for guidance and inspiration and how their stories are interwoven with all that surrounds them.
“Dakini draws on the people and places surrounding her in the Yarra Valley to create her own mythology.”
Ms Cadzow said the Banyan Gallery will host monthly exhibitions and regular fundraising events at the Bodhi Tree.
“Banyan Gallery and the wonderful Bodhi Tree cafe have a lot to offer our community and its artists. Support from local residents is greatly appreciated,” she said.
