July rainfall is above average

WARBURTON has broken new ground in the rainfall stakes.
Mail rainfall recorder Keith Thomas says for the first time since December Warburton has received an above-average rainfall.
“In July, we received 127mm, which is slightly more than our average for previous months of 116.7mm,” he said.
Rain fell on 18 days during July for a recording of 478mm, still lagging well behind the average of 694.3mm.
In Healesville, Alma Mitchell recorded just 89.6mm over 24 days compared with 121.5mm last year over 28 days.
Mr Thomas said Melbourne’s storage dams have recovered very slightly but are still dangerously low.
They now hold 542,355m. ltr which equates to 30.6 per cent of capacity. At this time last year, they held 35.8 per cent.
