DOON Reserve Caravan Park in Yarra Junction will get a $57,000 grant to improve toilet and shower facilities.
Gembrook MP Tammy Lobato said Doon Reserve, a Shire of Yarra Ranges-managed park, was one of 50 tourist parks benefitting from grants to upgrade facilities and improve their environmental performance.
“Camping and caravanning are part of Australian life and we need to make sure our Crown Land parks like Doon Reserve Caravan Park keep pace with growing visitor demand,” Ms Lobato said.
“This program will help improve facilities, which in turn will provide a better holiday experience for tourists and Victorian families.”
Environment and Climate Change Minister Gavin Jennings said he was pleased to see that grant applicants have embraced the focus on environmental sustainability.
He said upgrades would include water tanks, efficient showerheads, flow restrictors and energy-efficient light globes.
“Some projects will focus on improving sustainability by including dual-flush toilet cisterns, solar hot water systems or push-button shower limiters,” he said.
Ms Lobato said that caravan parks were very important to many Victorian families, who relied on them to be able to enjoy an affordable holiday or to live in on a permanent basis.
