A STAR-STUDDED cast will present dramatic readings from popular Australian and international literature in an evening of food, wine and culture at Warburton on 15 November.
High-profile Australia actors Bruce Hughes, Rod Mullinar, Julie Nihill and Suzanne Shubart will perform a mix of classic and contemporary, comic and dramatic stories from around the globe.
Since its inception last year Beyond Cuisine has been popular with audiences everywhere.
It’s not just book lovers who have embraced Beyond Cuisine.
The concept of actors reading and performing stories to grown-ups in a cafe/cabaret setting has caught the imagination of all sorts of people.
“Most of us remember the pleasure of being read a favourite story at bedtime,” Ms Shubart said.
“We offer grown-ups an opportunity to experience this joy in an adult setting.”
She said the readings came across more as a theatrical event than a literary one, with the actors giving performances from the page.
Beyond Cuisine has played to packed houses in Melbourne, Montsalvat in Eltham, the Williamstown Sailing Club, the Kilmore Town Hall, the Theatre Royal in Castlemaine, and the Wattle Cafe in Hurstbridge and was a feature event of this year’s Melbourne Writers’ Festival.
Now it’s Yarra Valley’s turn to host what has been described as a soul and stomach-nourishing theatrical event.
Beyond Cuisine will be staged in the Warburton Mechanics Institute Hall at the Upper Yarra Arts Centre on Saturday 15 November.
Ticket price includes the show and a two-course dinner and bookings are essential.
