THE much needed rain came at the worst time for cricket – a Saturday. Fortunately most games were only affected to a minor degree.

Launching Place United at home to Healesville batted first and were dismissed for 117 with Hugh Wadsworth 30 not out and Cameron Hoare 29 the top scorers. For the visitors Darren Edwards took 5/33 with a damp ball and in reply at stumps Healesville are 3/45.
Mt Evelyn batting first at Hoddles Creek in what would be the club’s first ever visit to this venue in this grade, at stumps had posted a fine score of 4/297, with Andrew Giblin leading the way with a fine innings of 137. Adrian Bryans 55n/o and Luke Jones 48, were the other run makers. The home side will require a fine batting performance and Brenton Derix to fire as well as others to assist him if they are to get the almost 300 required on day two.
Woori Yallock reached 9/220 from 56 overs against Silvan at Silvan, the home side, sadly, failing to provide the YVCA with further details of match performances.
Yarra Junction hosted Seville who made first use of the wicket and reached 213 all out at stumps with Stu Sculthorpe 58, Andrew Kay 43 and Leigh Aitkens 33, the best with the bat. For the Eagles, Brad Jones had 36 runs taken from him for 4 wickets. He was assisted by Stephen Flutter with 2/28.
Coldstream’s last wicket fell with the score on 141. Paul Harris on 44 was the highest scorer while for Gruyere District Matt Tilney toiled away to end the day with 4/55. In reply at stumps on day one Gruyere District are 1/31 with Luke Sarre undefeated on 19.
Scott Hasan made 38 of Wandin’s total of 195 while for Warburton/Millgrove Cam Darwall took the fine bowling figure of 5/63.

Warburton-Millgrove were dismissed for just 83 with Steve Darwall was not out for 30 while for Wandin Adam Oxley had a good day taking 6/28 and J Rowe 3/11. In reply Wandin are 1/57 with Troy Murphy still at the crease on 35.
Healesville provided only partial information on their home match against Seville with the visitors batting all day to reach 9/208cc. Michael Davern bowled well to take 4/47 from 20 overs while for Seville Paul Dicello with 44 and Lucky Juwan on 31 batted well, as did others.
Yarra Glen at home were dismissed for 148 with John Orren 34, Nick Tucker 25, D. Davey 3/31 and Paul Miutescue 3/14 against Mt Evelyn who in reply are 2/16 at the end of play on day one.
Woori Yallock reached 156 before being dismissed with Cal Ferguson 59 and Stu Thompson taking 4/43 for Yarra Junction who have taken 11 runs from the required total without loss.
