YARRA RANGES’ nightclubbers can stick around for last drinks thanks to the extended NightRider bus service, introduced last weekend.
Party-goers from Healesville and Coldstream, who travel to the city for a night out, can now head home on the new route called the Healesville Loop NightRider, which will extend from the end of the Croydon/Lilydale NightRider route.
The Healesville loop will depart from Main Street, Lilydale, every 60 minutes between 2am and 5am on Saturday and 1.30am and 7am on Sunday and run to and from the city.
Passengers can also use a free phone on the bus to book a taxi to meet them at their stop.
Evelyn MP Christine Fyffe welcomed the announcement to extend the service to Healesville, but said services did not link with the train timetable.
“I’m pleased that the State Government has finally recognised the need for such a service for young people and families in the Yarra Ranges,” Mrs Fyffe said.
“Late-night travellers coming off the last train to Lilydale at 2.09am will miss the bus, and will have to sit in the dark for 50 minutes until the next scheduled bus can pick them up.”
