Council’s last call out for voters

WITH voting in Yarra Ranges Council elections closing on Friday, an election officer has reminded voters to promptly submit their ballot papers.
Voting closes at 6pm on 28 November, and all votes must reach the returning officer by this time or they will not be counted. Returning officer for Yarra Ranges Lance Mawer has warned that time was running out since the first ballot papers went out on 11 November.
“Voters need to post their completed ballot paper back as soon as possible,” he said.
“If it is too late to return your vote by post, people will need to deliver their ballot paper to my office in person.”
The election office is the Shire of Yarra Ranges Civic Centre in Anderson Street, Lilydale.
Voting is compulsory for all enrolled residents under 70 years of age. This includes both property owners and tenants, and those who fail to vote may be fined.
Anyone who has not received a ballot pack should contact Mr Mawer immediately on 9737 6059 for a replacement pack.
