WORAWA College has finished 2008 with a celebration of achievement, and a show of appreciation to the community and others who have supported the school this year.
Students showed visitors an exhibition of their artwork, and the chair of the board of directors, Lois Peeler, and principal Peter Moxham conducted tours of the school and the Dreaming Trail.
Prizes were presented for individual achievements in areas that included literacy, creative arts, health and fitness, culture and mathematics.
Three special awards were presented – the McEwen Award to Edric Murray, the Holland Foundation Award to Marcus Briscoe and the Hyllus Maris Award to Morgan Solomon. Morgan and Marcus were also named school captains for 2009.
Mr Moxham said everyone at the school was enormously proud of the students and their achievements. “We are very pleased with the progress the school is making and looking forward to 2009 with confidence and optimism,’’ he said.
