Rundle Rumbles

WITH country week looming Danny Rundle awoke making 109 in The Basin’s score of 272 against Upper Ferntree Gully.
Mick Rawnsley also contributed in a game that saw the Kings loose Jay “Sticks” Colee to an injury early in the day’s play. With their front-line bowler down and out Dave Goodger, Shane Colee, and Alistair Lord all snared three wickets
At Fairpark, Johnson Park was denied a large total after tea by St John’s Tecoma with Anthony “John Farnham” Chandler and Marc “Hollywood” Hardy cleaning up. The Sharks were sitting at 2/143 at tea and looking to post a large score when the Saints turned to their elder statesmen.
Chandler finished with five wickets and Hardy four as the last eight wickets fell for 100 runs. Bryn Gaunt finished with 66 whilst Dave Carmen (39) and Dulip Samaraweera (35) also performed with the bat.
The Panthers wagged their tail after Lysterfield cleaned up their top order. Aaron Powell, Ryan Hicks and Steve Pimm all kept the scorers interested as Eildon Park posted 292 at Lakesfield reserve.
Chris Hill once again was the best performed for the Beavers taking four wickets.
Monbulk set Ferntree Gully 267 for victory with Mick Coen making 76 for the Hawks. Dave Anstey toiled away with the ball taking five wickets off his 33 overs.
Injuries to evergreen Graham Salan and Ryan Handley left the Blues short in the bowling department.
Rowville posted 9/251 off their allotted overs at HV Jones Reserve against Mountain Gate. Craig Mitchell (53) and Nick Dunn, undefeated on 50, were the best performed with the bat, whilst Anthony Bailey snared three wickets for the Gators.
Finishing on 9/248 Belgrave batted through the day against Upwey at the ’Dome. Scott Vozzo top-scored with 76, assisted by Jay Windross, Ben Carnell and Lynton Toms. Leigh Bianchi and Steve Gannell both took four wickets for the Tigers
In Decoite Shield, South Belgrave are 6/82 after dismissing Upwey for 84, in a game where the batsmen struggled.
Daniel Maxwell took 6/20 as South Belgrave took control of the game. Auravale dismissed Johnson Park for 212 and then posted 1/67 to set themselves up for a win.
In the other games Eildon Park amassed 339 against Lysterfield, Ferntree Gully were 4/69 having dismissed Knox for 211, Knox Gardens made 272 against The Basin and Knoxfield set Footballers 304 to chase.
