PARTICIPATION at the annual Anzac Day commemorations in Yarra Junction is an important part of the Upper Yarra Secondary College’s community service ethos.
College captains, Brad Woods and Amelia McRorie, spoke on Saturday on behalf of Upper Yarra Secondary College at the Yarra Junction Cenotaph.
The UYSC Concert Band led by Ms Kellie Stribbling, also played at the service.
“These young leaders of our community recognised the importance of remembering the past and acknowledging the sacrifices that impacted on Australian community 93 years ago,” said assistant principal Patricia Broom.
“They spoke about the Lighthorsemen and what Anzac means to the young people of today,” she added.
Ms Broom said all Upper Yarra Secondary College students are encouraged to remember those who played a part in wars that have shaped the world.
