REPLANTING the gardens around Marysville’s SES and CFA stations has taken members another step forward.
Willing helpers from near and far joined SES and CFA members recently to re-establish the gardens and surrounds at the town’s emergency services complex.
Brigade co-ordinator Chris Gleeson said during the first few months after the fire, crews from all over the CFA’s regions 12 and 22 rotated to man the Marysville fire station.
“A lot of these wonderful people wanted to come back and help with the task of re-establishing our gardens,” Mr Gleeson said.
“We even had regional staff manning rakes and shovels. The saying goes, many hands make light work and the 30 or so eager volunteers put in a very productive four hours to bring about a fantastic result.”
Mr Gleeson said, continuing the spirit of giving which was so prevalent last year, many local and Yarra Valley businesses donated the materials needed.
He thanked Black Spur Nursery and Healesville Building Supplies, Shelian Plants, G.B. Timber, The Tool Library, Branching Out and local contractor Conrad Thompson for his time and his Bobcat.
“We also want to thank Judy for cooking a great sausage sizzle to sustain the hungry troops, and everyone involved,” he added.
