KNOX Raiders slam dunked another double win on the score board with victories in both the men’s and women’s leagues.
The women proved to be unbeatable, smashing the Albury/Wodonga Lady Bandits and scoring a season-high 115 points.
The Raiders intensive pressure from the first bounce led to several easy fast-break points at the offensive end, opening up a 32-15 lead.
By half-time the ladies had a massive 28-point lead but despite lead they didn’t let up, pouring on another 28 third-quarter points.
But in the final term, the Lady Bandits made an attempt at a comeback scoring 20 points in the final term, but the Raiders were too strong, pouring on a further 29 points on their way to a staggering 115-63 win.
Despite the victory, the Raiders remain one spot out of the top six with a 6-4 win-loss record.
In the men’s, the squad was lifted by the return of injured import Lester Strong who was involved in a serious car accident three weeks ago.
Strong had sustained injuries to his face, shoulder and leg but was able to suit up for his beloved Raiders after receiving the all clear from medical staff.
Despite Strong’s return, the Raiders were slow off the mark, trailing six points to zero just 90 seconds into the game against the Canberra Gunners.
John Phillip’s two three-pointers lifted the team, taking a slender two-point advantages at the first break.
The Gunners came out strong in the second quarter outscoring the home side 25-16 and taking a seven-point lead.
But in the third quarter the Raiders increased its defensive intensity which led to a number of turnovers and transitional offensive baskets.
They cut the deficit and pulled away with a three-point lead going into the final term.
League-leading scorer C. J. Massingale poured on 12 fourth-quarter points to help his team pull away to take an 18-point victory, 93-75.
The Raiders have now moved into third spot on the ladder with a 6-6 win-loss record.
