A STRUGGLING community on a small Fijian island continues to benefit from the support and kindness of the Upper Yarra Valley.
Millgrove residents Glenda and Rob Towan have been fundraising and donating goods to Buliya, a small community on a remote Fijian island since their first visit in 2008. They have raised enough money for another five water tanks for the drought-stricken population; and a large donation of clothing, linen, books, educational resources and medical supplies have recently made the trip across the Pacific Ocean.
The Towans will be holding a special fundraiser event on Sunday 6 June featuring wine tastings, a gourmet burger lunch, and a silent auction at Brumfield Winery in Wandin East.
Tickets are $12.50 per adult and numbers will be limited.
Readers can call Rob Towan on 0419 349589 for more information.
